The EP that started it all.
Initially, an experiment to get away from my normal playing style and grew into something else entirely.
This marked a massive change in direction as to how I played bass and moved me away from the "Trappings" of being stuck in one style or one technique.

Aside from "Nancy & George", these songs were all written shortly after moving to just outside Glastonbury and starting to rebuild my life.....From the bottom up.

Track Listing

1 - Tribute
This developed from a practice riff focusing on creating a melody.
Initially, the song grew out of desire to play something more melodic.
Titled as a tribute to all my bass playing heroes.

2 - For Janek
Again, another motif developed from a harmony exercise I’d been working on.
Recorded around the same time I discovered Janek Gwizdala’s vlog (and subsequent body of work) and titled accordingly.

3 - Nancy & George
The first song I wrote for bass guitar. Created as a single piece for a single instrument and then fleshed out with the loop pedal.
Titled and dedicated to my Grandparents who have supported and encouraged me unconditionally.

4 - Mother’s Song
The first actual song I wrote with the loop pedal and playing with counterpoint rhythms in the tapping section.
Having dedicated a song to my grandparents, I thought it appropriate to title one for my mum.

5 - Changing
This grew out of an old chord pattern I had for a song that was never finished.
Funny how when you change the tempo and instrument, a new melody develops and you are able to create something altogether different.
Titled due to the progress being made and movement being made in transitioning from playing in a particular style to something entirely new.
