Conceived and recorded throughout February 2022 after finding some renewed positivity and inspiration.
Finally finding some time to sit down with my bass and create some noises to capture the moments that so often pass me by.



Ursa Major
Written on a cold February evening, looking at the sky through the window and feeling rather content.
Trying to capture both the feeling of wonderment and contentment in one piece.....plus, I'm a big bear.



Renewed
The chords for this came during a late night FaceTime conversation where I was noodling waiting for my partner to come back from making a cup of tea......only for her to arrive and me telling her chord structures to write down so I wouldn't forget them ;-)
Developed the layers and melody on the next day.
Again feeling awash with contentment as it feels like a lot is renewing this year.



Phoenix
This riff developed during an evening's practice session.
After a few variations and movements, I simplified it and focused in on layering up the sounds and developing the movements.
I really struggled to fit a lead line over this until I hit the pitch shifter and this was one of the first things that fell out of my fingers.
I wanted to try and give the feeling of rising, whether that be from the ashes or just from the floor and the "Whistle" tone just seemed to fit that notion for me.



Illuminated
This was the track that started this round of creativity off.
I'd barely sat and played like this since I put out "Aperture" last year.
I just plugged in, with half an intention to find something and this started to develop really quickly.
I like the way the times clash slightly and the simplicity of each riff allows them to build.
